How can you ensure that your contractors are performing background checks equal to the high-quality checks you are using in your organization? With so many cut-rate companies out there providing inferior background checks — and many contractors performing no checks at all — it is quite possible you could have contractors on site with a criminal history.
The One Source Certified Contractors program allows contractors to check the backgrounds of their employees and determine their eligibility for site access. You and the contractor do not have to decipher full background checks to verify eligibility for site access — the interpreting has already been done by One Source The Background Check Company. A green or red color notation indicates whether an employee “Meets Requirements” or “Does Not Meet Requirements.”
The minimum background check requirements for this program include:
- No felony or misdemeanor convictions* for crimes involving:
- terroristic threats
- sexual offenses
- A negative drug test for amphetamines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates and phencyclidines (Level 2 and up)
- Complete compliance with all testing procedures (Level 2 and up)

The One Source Certified Contractors program conducts a rigorous check that includes TotalCheck PLUS. From these checks, we determine whether candidates meet work eligibility requirements. Best of all, site participation in the program is free, and there is no equipment to buy. Simply require that all your contractors either provide current One Source Certified Contractors or require your non-participating contractors to participate. This ensures they have been checked to a higher standard — the One Source standard.
*One Source Certified Contractors requires that participants have no criminal convictions or ongoing criminal obligations within the stated categories for five years on misdemeanor convictions and seven years on felony convictions.
